I sure could use some help. Just had DPF and DOC cleaned. New exhaust temp sensors as well. Regen light is on the dash still. Engine temp reaches 180F. When I start a regen the temp does not get over 450F at the doc inlet. It has a new aftertreatment injector also. I started a regen with the temp sensor removed and carefully heated it with a torch. When the temp was over 550F the aft injector started to inject fuel and the proper regen temps were reached about 1000F. I quickly removed the plug that I had in the temp sensor hole and the temps dropped again. I also checked the downpipe to the doc and noticed it is about 450 or so as well so the temp sensor is reading correctly. I guess the problem is that the preheating mode doesnt get to 550 to start up the aft injector dosing. I'm open to any suggestions this thing is kicking my rear. I also noticed that during the warm up stage the intercooler hoses are very soft as in it doesnt feel like the engine is making any boost at all. This thing is becoming a nightmare

Ok, what program are you using to monitor this and force the regen?
-
Using a Jaltest. I also checked the turbochargers they are spinning freely.
-
I take it there are no fault codes. My first suspicion would be the throttle body.
I have seen throttle bodies fail without causing a fault code. -
I have removed the inlet air hose during regen to see what it is doing and the throttle blade is open. I don't know if its supposed to be open or closed.
-
With the inlet hose removed get someone to turn the key on the throttle
body should close and open again. also see if with the key off if you can
move the throttle plate.
I believe it should be slightly open during a regen. -
OK yes I have done exactly that and watched it cycle. It is wide open during regen. Its probably bad practice but i held it closed when I was trying to regen it and it still didn't build enough heat. It gets to 400F faster than when it is open but as soon as it gets to 400 it just stays right there.

I am not familiar with that program, so I cannot say. We don't get into non-oem programs. We use Navistar Engine Diagnostics.
