Check out my latest sample. Just how much lead and fuel is too much? I've got a lower bearing kit. If the bearings need replaced, what's the chances that it's actually the cam bearings, and not rods/mains?

As far as fuel is concerned, check out the flash point on all the tests. You can see it trending downwards, so it looks like it's been slowly getting worse.

I'm trying to NOT put any major money into this engine, because I want to buy a different truck. So are these numbers that alarming, or is Blackstone just being dramatic?

Viscosity is shearing you need to dump that oil. Word of caution with majestic oil too. I have some horror stories from that garbage.

The other thing is 15-40 is going to end up with top end oiling issues on your ISX, I would highly recommend going to a 10-30 semi synthetic or preferably a 5-30 full synthetic Delo or Delvac. They also have less impact on dpf lifespan due to lower zddp for people that have them.

You'll have more stable viscosity and they are extremely good anti wear.

One sample last year was very elevated lead.
It's higher than it should be on this last sample but not enough to sound an alarm.
Seriously, try either the Delo or Delvac synthetic products you'll be impressed.

    Reading from right to left:

    Sample -
    1. Majestic
    2. Majestic
    3. Delo 400
    4. Delo 400
    5. Delo 400
    6. Majestic
    7. Will be Majestic (currently in crank case)
    8. Will be Mobil Delvac (got 11 gallons at a good price from Walmart)
    9. Will either be Mobil or Delo, depending on what I can get my hands on. I've already decided to stop running Majestic.

Also, each sample represents an oil change. I sample, and then change the oil. So that oil is already long gone.

8,000-10,000 mile intervals may be the sweet spot with that oil and engine combo. Back when I was driving My little Cat would turn the oil south quickly if it got close to 9 and show all kinds of bad numbers on an analysis. When I went to Holt about it to see if overhaul was due Cat truck engine dept. just shrugged there shoulders and said that just tells us don’t run it past 8. Lol!

Good deal and wise choice on discontinued use of the majestic.

CM870 I would stick with a 15W-40 or 5W-40. No DPF so no need to worry about super low ash oil. I would be more concerned about your fuel dilution.

Nothing there would have me in a panic on one analysis. The changes aren’t big enough, and a lot of things can cause them. You have to look for trends over a few samples unless you get absolutely wild spikes in something.

Just posted that as an example - I know, different engines - this is 12.7 S60.

The top line is latest sample, at 30k miles.

So, all wear metals are cumulative.

I only get concerned at high silicon, dirt, which will continue to wear components. And ANY fuel dilution which will thin the oil and drop viscosity. That - and acidity.

I wouldn’t be concerned about the lead at all - the viscosity drop and presence of fuel would have me nervous about injectors leaking.

Absolutely NOT a mechanic. Just my dumb thoughts on samples and oil over 7 years.
