Humble praise for my job…
Pay is decent. Paid all miles empty/loaded. We went from .43 cents last year to .53 early in 2022. Then to .58 on May 1st. $25 per stop. $12 hook. Quarterly safety bonus based on mileage ran. Two weeks paid vacation. Company shuts down completely whole week of the 4th and Christmas. Absolutely zero issues with pay every week.
BCBS insurance. 401k. 6 company shirts. New Volvo autos and Freightliner manuals, replaced at 500k. Shop on site. Fuel on site. Wash on site. No cameras. No forced dispatch. No truck sharing.
Pick your load for the following week every Thursday or Friday. Old system was two runs bundled together. New system they just started is no more bundling. You can take any two loads and mix and match.
No waiting around. You know every Thursday where your going the next week. When you final out at last customer you wait maybe 20 mins to see if you got a backhaul or not. 95% of backhauls are same day and less then an hour or two out of your way. 99.9% go back to yard so you don’t waste time delivering. 100% are no touch. We never haul hazmat.
Another reason I’m happy here: I’m an introvert and these guys don’t ##ck with you at all: Truck not running right? Destroy a fairing? Someone rip your mirror off? Forklift put a hole in trailer? Turn in to shop, fixed before your next run, no papal inquisition. New tv? Fridge? Inverter? Throw in bunk and shop installs before next run. Cold? Hot? Need to idle? Nobody cares. Every day I get back they wash, fuel and park my truck in my parking space.
Time off… as long as I don’t go crazy with it, I just say BYEEE whenever I want and go do my own thing. Last year I took 4 weeks off, 2 paid and 2 unpaid, no bs no threats no repercussions, they called me the following Thursday for dispatch as normal. Need a long weekend? Or have a Doctor appt or event that you can’t fit into your run schedule? I just tell them I have a thing and Im only taking one run that week. No back and forth. Simple. Done. I LOVE the fact I never hear from these guys. EVER. once a week my sweet dispatcher calls to get my picks and that’s it. Despite the vacations, numerous weeks I only took one run, and many times I picked small weeks so I could have a long weekend I still managed $70k last year… and that was on the old pay scale.
Of course I’d love to see .65/mile but I stay here because it’s a no hassle environment combined with good pay for the area I live in NE TN. I can’t see myself leaving unless it was to be my own boss in my own truck.
Appreciate this forum, reading other peoples successes and having a place to express my own positive thoughts.

How much experience is needed to be a driver there?
Rideandrepair Thanks this. -
A lot of drivers in SE Kentucky/Cumberland Gap area used jump at the chance to drive for LLI. Around 1999, the trucking operations went from being known as England Corsair to LLI, which stands for Laz-Y-Boy Logistics. They used to have a small number of reefers to provide more backhaul options out of the West and Northwest, but I understand the trailers are entirely dry vans now.
These trucks go all 48 and into parts of Canada. Nice fleet for someone with experience!Speed_Drums, bzinger, Rideandrepair and 2 others Thank this. -
Used to see your trucks at my old employer, Lippert, in Elkhart, IN.
bzinger, Rideandrepair, firemedic2816 and 2 others Thank this. -
England wants to see 12 months experience and a clean driving record. They have a lot of options though. Recently they’ve started a Independent Contractor program, but you’d have to call for the details as I don’t know off the top of my head.
Some photos attached. Trailer yard, loaded and ready to go for next week. A snap of our driver yard… as you can see nearly everyone is home for the weekend!
And a sample of our pick sheet. It’s usually 2-3 pages like that. This weeks was 3 pages of runs. Used to be you’d pick a number and run everything in that box. Now you can take the first part from one box and the second from a different box.Attached Files:

I.
"Will you walk into my parlour?" said a spider to a fly;
" 'Tis the prettiest little parlour that ever you did spy.
The way into my parlour is up a winding stair,
And I have many pretty things to shew when you are there."
"Oh no, no!" said the little fly, "to ask me is in vain,
For who goes up your winding stair can ne'er come down again."
II.
"I'm sure you must be weary, with soaring up so high,
Will you rest upon my little bed?" said the spider to the fly.
"There are pretty curtains drawn around, the sheets are fine and thin;
And if you like to rest awhile, I'll snugly tuck you in."
"Oh no, no!" said the little fly, "for I've often heard it said,
They never, never wake again, who sleep upon your bed!"
III.
Said the cunning spider to the fly, "Dear friend, what shall I do,
To prove the warm affection I've always felt for you?
I have, within my pantry, good store of all that's nice;
I'm sure you're very welcome – will you please to take a slice?"
"Oh no, no!" said the little fly, "kind sir, that cannot be,"
I've heard what's in your pantry, and I do not wish to see."
IV.
"Sweet creature!" said the spider, "you're witty and you're wise.
How handsome are your gauzy wings, how brilliant are your eyes!
I have a little looking-glass upon my parlour shelf,
If you'll step in one moment, dear, you shall behold yourself."
"I thank you, gentle sir," she said, "for what you're pleased to say,
And bidding you good morning now, I'll call another day."
V.
The spider turned him round about, and went into his den,
For well he knew, the silly fly would soon come back again:
So he wove a subtle web, in a little corner, sly,
And set his table ready, to dine upon the fly.
Then he went out to his door again, and merrily did sing,
"Come hither, hither, pretty fly, with the pearl and silver wing;
Your robes are green and purple – there's a crest upon your head;
Your eyes are like the diamond bright, but mine are dull as lead."
VI.
Alas, alas! how very soon this silly little fly,
Hearing his wily, flattering words, came slowly flitting by;
With buzzing wings she hung aloft, then near and nearer drew,
Thinking only of her brilliant eyes, and green and purple hue:–
Thinking only of her crested head, poor foolish thing! – At last
Up jumped the cunning spider, and fiercely held her fast.
VII.
He dragged her up his winding stair, into his dismal den,
Within his little parlour – but she ne'er came out again!
– And now, dear little children, who may this story read,
To idle, silly, flattering words, I pray you ne'er give heed:
Unto an evil counsellor, close heart, and ear, and eye,
And take a lesson from this tale, of the Spider and the Fly.[1]
