Great books if you like reading, and thank you for answering. The movies with Harrison Ford are good to.

I'll have to try and give it a shot again and try not to let my personal thoughts ruin it for me this time.

Harley Davidson and the Marlboro Man was good also. Great suggestion. It's a sleeper of a movie I always forget about.

Speaking of Sleepers....Sleepers the movie. Effed up but a good movie.

That's my movie, I can watch it every single day. Nothing else comes
close to this masterpiece for me.

I find that interesting as well. Have you seen the Maysles brother's Salesman. I love seeing inside the houses of the blue collar homes they are walking into. It is like a watching a time capsule being opened.

    Just thought of another classic…

    Papillon (1973)

I have not seen it. I'll surely add it to my watch list.

I know it could be just me but what I find degrading in the 80s is the introduction of that daub, plasticky, electronic soundtracks to almost every production. While it was all right at the time when I was a teenager, it seemed all right and perfect, but now when I am trying to dust off or rediscover some things, it simply spoils everything. 1990s productions got better...Forgive me, younger fellows, but I am getting older, past 50, and getting more grumpy.
In my ranking, the last best ever western was the "Unforgiven" but the weirdest in a funny way was " the Missouri Breaks" with Marlon Brando and Jack Nicholson, evidently having lots of fun there. I think that guys like Tarantino or Coen brothers must have been inspired by it.

It's a documentary about door to door Bible salesmen. There is no commentary or talking heads - just a fly on the wall look at the early 60s. I have no idea how they managed to convince people to let them film them. It probably sounds boring but I really enjoy it.
