Looking for a flatbed company to run OTR.
Lower Michigan.
I’ve been a machinist for 15 years, it’s never mattered what I look like. I’ve accumulated quite the collection of tattoos that aren’t able to be covered.
nothing offensive.
Any other heavily tattooed people running flatbed? Which companies? I read in a search TMC won’t tolerate that?
I want to keep working with my hands so I am aiming towards flatbed, but I’m also thinking more contact with construction site customers than DC’s might be a benefit?
idk.
Lay it on me

I know some companies just check to see if the driver has a pulse -

I think you ought to be ok most anywhere. TMC maybe not so much I suppose.
Are we talking heavy face tattoos too or what. I see quite a few inked up people out here.OLDSKOOLERnWV, Another Canadian driver, CAXPT and 1 other person Thank this. -
I dont think you will have any problems. If your concerned just ask your recruiter. But i really doubt you will have a problem.

While tattoos have no bearing on your person, A large amount of companies will probably be a bit shy of heavy tattooing, if it is above the collar or beyond the long sleeve cuff. They will site customer contact as the reason, even in flatbed.
On getting into trucking at this time. It can be a good career for some. It certainly is a different life when you run OTR. Thing is, right now the industry is going into a down turn. Rates are dropping, expenses are up and spot market loads are also dropping. That’s not to say there is no work, it’s just less. Contrary to the media hype, there is not a truck or driver shortage at this time. People stating they can’t get trucks don’t want to pay the rates, that’s the larger problem.
If you are satisfied with what your doing now, highly recommend you stay with that. At least for a while. This industry is fickle and has its cycles. Right now, it’s a down cycle. When the economy flattens out and things turn around in maybe 18 or so months, then it may be worthwhile.Sirscrapntruckalot, silverspur, Another Canadian driver and 4 others Thank this. -
So many people have tattoos these days, its not too much of an issue I dont think - if I wear long pants and a short sleeve shirt you cant see any of mine - Good Luck
