In Washington state your tanker endorsement won't appear on the learners permit, but only on the (final) CDL itself. That may be the case in Georgia as well.

I think I had a similar thing on my AZ CLP. I passed both doubles/triples and tanker endorsement tests when I took the other tests for my license. On my CLP they were not present, but was told that once I get my actual CDL they would be there, and they were. Unsure how common that is among the different states.

Not sure what office idiot told you that, but it's incorrect. Tanker is not a skills test, and you can haul dryvan/reefer loads that still require the endorsement.

It is astounding at the number of people that are employed at the DMV, making life decisions for others, that seriously do not know what they are talking about. Have literally seen first hand, three female species hold court between themselves to provide an answer to a question on license reinstatement issue that was spelled out, cut and dry in the regulations, in black and white that I had downloaded from their site. I provided a copy for review and they would not look at it!! Had to get a real supervisor involved to keep them from terminating my guys license on the spot. How many people have they screwed up, that took their word as gospel, or didn’t have someone to go to bat for them???

Flatbed loads could require tanker too if you have totes or drums of paint say, then the paint would need Hazmat endorsement though

I didn't think it needed to be a tanker vehicle, but I wasn't going to argue with the person who was about to oversee my skills and road test.

I thought of that as well after the fact, thanks for pointing it out. As @MAMservices pointed out though, the problem is DMV employees being idiots.

The problem is almost all of this is automated. When you go to a DMV and test to get the permit this is placed on the CDLIS system. Then once you take the road test this is also added to the CDLIS and all of this information is on the screen the DMV clerk is looking at. The OP did say the N was on the back of what was issued it was just not on the front in the body of the document. I don't think the issue is with the human part of this. For some reason, the system did not add that N to the body of the document. I used to live in Georgia and never had to wait more than 2 weeks for my hard copy to come in the mail. If I were a betting man I would be willing to bet the N will be on the hard copy. Now let me add this. Are all the possible endorsements possible printed on the back OR just the ones added to the CDL? The thing is, if that endorsement is in the CDLIS and does not show up on the hard copy this is easy to fix. Where the rubber hits the road is the CDLIS. I would be interested to see what is on that hard copy when it arrives.
