It's no secret that the food at truck stops are severely over priced. I'm not talking about the resturants or buffets, rather the pre made sandwiches, hot dogs, etc. I always try to eat healthy, and I find myself going for the pre-made wraps and sandwiches in the refrigerated area. However, I don't think paying $5 for a Tuna sandwich is acceptable. I got to thinking, surely there comes a time when all this food is thrown away. Has anyone attempted or successfully been able to catch employers throwing out perfectly good food and able to snag a few free meals? Just a thought I had.

Learn to live on 6 hard boiled eggs from Walmart, $2.28 per pack. The truck stop garbage can rot on the shelf before I pay the prices they want. The only time I get food from the truck stop is if they give it away for free in the Pilot App.

Once in awhile, I get a craving for hot dogs. There's a fairly high turnover on those around lunchtime. But only at Love's. I'm not sure if they've ever changed the hot dogs at TA. I've NEVER seen anyone buy one from there. It might be the same ones from 1995.

What I get from this post is, you want to eat healthy but your either to cheap to do so, to lazy to make your own healthy food, or your company pays you so little you can't afford your healthy lifestyle. I know this is a bit out there, but maybe, just maybe...they don't sell you the food to be thrown out as it could make you sick. I mean, me? I'd prefer not to be sitting at a truck stop for 6 hours puking and ####ting my guts out because I was to cheap to go buy my healthy food somewhere else, I had to insist I be given free food that is about to be thrown out.

Here's my protip on eating healthy...

Tip 1 - Make your own #### food. It's the only way to get what YOU want. An it's easier then expecting every place to cater to your diet.

Tip 2 - If you want to eat healthy...don't stop at a truck stop for food! Plenty of other places for food,

You can make plenty of healthy foods in your truck, or at home and bring with you on the road. Plenty of threads out there on the subject.

Sirscrapntruckalot - For fun, I like to walk into a gym with a box of tacos or a pizza and pretend to be looking for the customer. People follow me like i'm the pied piper!

I saw a video the other day about this very thing... a "life hack" that would get you free TS food.

The guy waited until he saw the employee going to the dumpster with a box, dug it out, and had all the free roller grill crap he wanted.

I'll just put food in the fridge from home.

You can get sick from the fresh food, too. Alleged fresh food, anyway. Like the breakfast sandwich I had from Arby's at the nastiest TA in America; good ole Coachella, California.

I wish I only had to vomit for six hours. No, sir. I got the full treatment. So did the tractor floor. Thank goodness tractor floors cannot relay driver horror stories on our beloved TTR. :sleepy3:

When I Was OTR, I STOCKED UP On Canned As Well Dry Goods, Usually At Dollar General and Wail Mart Locations (near HOME & OTR), and Had A Big Stash Under Bunk as Well Some Floor Cabinets. 30 - 50 Pounds of AVAILABLE NUTRITION AND 3 - 5 Gallons of Water.
It Was a LEARNED TRICK From a Couple Years Of Eating In/Depending Upon Truck Stops, Wendys, B.K., Other.

STOP eating the tripe in Truck Stops.
    You'll Feel BETTER.
