90 days ago came and went a beep beep beep backup alarm mandate via the oil company we exclusively haul for. no other companies I have seen or heard have them around in our running area. So far we have had a hand full of drivers approached by other drivers unhappy their sleep is interrupted while they parked in truck stops day and night shifts. 11 company trucks with alarms and trailer lights completely cut, and 3- 5th wheel pins pulled along with the front hub oil plugs removed from some others . Me being an o/o I wired a kill switch into my backup alarm initially so I only use it on the pad where it's required to avoid disruption of drivers sleeping anywhere. It was a no brainer for me having had my sleep interrupted over the years by a random semi, dump truck or power line boom truck over the yrs. So I get it. I did send an email to operations with the suggestion to do the same after the notice of the incidents was sent out in a mass text . Surprisingly they are going to act on it.
Imagine a fleet of trucks all with backup alarms on day and night shift. Every day on a schedule disturbing the sleep of drivers .. Anyway good luck out here everyone.

then, the ones cutting wires and pulling 5th wheel pins ought to be arrested and charged with vandalism, and fired from thier jobs.

That's outcome would definitely be "Cause and Effects"

Back up alarms and apu alarms. It’s the way of the world. And if your messing with another persons truck your nothing but a cupcake.
alds and Another Canadian driver Thank this. -
After many quiet months the shop fixed my backup alarm. Many places we go require them. But it's not super loud, and I can usually back into a parking hole at a truck stop with no pull ups.
Another Canadian driver Thanks this. -
Sounds like a bunch of whiny babies. I don't care to listen to backup alarms when trying to sleep. But to mess with someone's truck is wrong
kemosabi49 and GreenPete359 Thank this.
