So I can’t find a thread about this particular subject. I have a misdemeanor where my probation ends July. It’s for terroristic threat with intent. But it’s also deferred adjudication probation. Will that still count as a record and will anyone hire me?

Did you have an attorney that got you the deferral? They should be able to clarify your status of charges.

If it’s a deferred adjudication, then that would mean as long as you stayed clean & out of trouble for one year the charges are dropped. ie: you were never convicted.

there’s nothing to put on an application. Your attorney should have explained this to you.

Most trucking applications I remember filling out asked specifically if there was deferred adjudication in my history.

You can answer no, but if they find it, it’s the first lie, and a big one, on your application. I would fear them finding it as I was just getting into the job and then terminating me.

My advice, go to the county courthouse where the charges were filed and pull your records. If it comes up, then you know. That’s the only way they would find it through a third party background check company generally.

Depending upon where he lives, this could be as simple as calling in a bomb threat as a senior prank in high school...

Not even that much. Depends on how much the state wants to push it, but it could be a farm kid who forgot he had his rifle in his pickup and went to school.

Actually I didn’t do anything. My sister and mother got into a fight with some random woman who was pregnant and I tried to stop the fight. Who fights a lady that’s pregnant??!!??? Anyways she was my half sister and I wasn’t raised by my mother. We were meeting up for the first time. Hadn’t seen them since I was a kid and that happened. Then found out they both have these long records of all kinds of things and my attorney said it didn’t look good for me and insisted I take a plea deal. My life is ruined because I wanted to know who my family was and be a part of a family. Needless to say, I don’t talk to ANYONE from my family. So I had to plead guilty to “yelling at her and verbally threatening to hurt her” it’s just all crazy. The whole thing still blows my mind. I got fired from my job and can’t get a decent job anywhere now.

    Where do you live?

Post in the seeking employment section with the essential info: Age, location, preferred routes, preferred home time, preferred type of trailers, and experience. Someone might come along seeking more info, at which point you tell them what you said here. There are a lot of smaller companies that take things like this in consideration.

Back in a former life, the Army sent me to Florida to be a recruiter... I learned a LOT about how different agencies charge for different crimes and how different DAs vary on how they proceed. Perhaps you live in the hiring area of someone with the same background experience to sift through everything...
