Well, Thanks Guys for not running. I’ve done my best. 10 days off, but the bills are stacking up. I’m not rich like most O/O’s. I squander most of my money, it’s usually spent before I get it. Just set up 3 loads, till next Thursday. The numbers aren’t tooooo bad, for 2700 miles. Hopefully get in one more short trip, before getting a Friday weekend run home. Looks like we’re not going to starve just yet. We kind of like to eat around here. Catch you on the “Cheap” side.

To replace my Gearbox with a reman would run me 7-8k. Sad part, it will have to get replaced again before you would even service a big truck gearbox. Yet I could get a reman 13spd eaton for 3-5k. I would say absolutely, big truck parts are most of the time cheaper than pickup parts and the big truck way outlasts the little pickups.

Agreed, but they aren't allowed to legally work on a vehicle without the state certification (not ASE). I don't need an auditor showing up again, but this time getting fines for not having legal employees.

I do all my maintenance, including the balancing of tires, I am a full-time mechanic, but at the end of the day, they are neck and neck. Pickups will kill you on maintenance cost, but yet to buy a replacement motor every 450k or even a new pickup (this is the most beneficial route) you're in 70k. I can have CAT do a platinum build and then some for 70k every 6 years. Just saying, I think pickups aren't worth the hassle unless you can run them and repair them yourself. I charge full labor and parts cost (plus markup) to my trucking company for all repairs. I'm going to get paid as the driver and then paid as the mechanic. This is how it is supposed to be done, you shouldn't even polish your wheels for free. I just did that tonight, except the shop charged for labor and supplies.
