If this doesn't belong in this section apologies, trying to see who has advice here. Not had this happen before and it seems stupid.
So lets start the ol story. I haul coal for a living, I was in a 06 Pete 387 day cab which used to be used by keen to pull those little fuel tankers but our owner for some reason bought them because he thinks if the truck is lighter you'll get more tonnage which is BS. Usually in a W900 daycab which I get just as much if not more tonnage than that Pete but thats beside the story. So one day I'm coming across a mountain here at home with about 35 1/2 tons in the back, I start into a right hand curve, downshift from seventh to sixth and let it ride the jake and right as I was starting to turn the wheel I touched the brake and I heard a loud pop then all of a sudden I was on my side. I kicked the windshield out and got out and the first thing I see is the drivers side centerbolt for the leafs is sheared off. Cops show up, say I was speeding yada yada the usual (I wasn't, those roads are death if you like to speed and you will go off a cliff) I pointed out the broken centerbolt and the state cop tried to say it broke when it fell over and slid. My argument is why is there a skid mark starting the in proper lane that leads into where it turned over which would lead me to think it sheared, the tire jammed into the springs and over I went, he says it broke when I landed and slid. The tarp arm bolt showed I slid about six inches once I hit the ground so that was BS to me too. (Not a professional accident investigator but I personally don't think these trucks should be trying to haul coal and the rubber on the road tells the tale.) So after the cleanup and everything they give me a ticket for Failure to Obey Lane Markings because my truck landed in the opposite lane. It's 178 to pay and 4 points but it seems like utter BS since none of it was in my control. I feel like I got it because they couldn't find anything else to give me. I know barracks lawyering is verboten not here for that but I'm just trying to get a feel if I should just pay it and go on or go to court for it. Not like I have the extra money atm since I've been out since March. (keep a rainy day fund people) Any advice will be considered, in years of driving and six of it being in the Army I've NEVER turned a truck over.
Sorry for the long writeup, just frustrated and trying to reach out there for advice, thanks guys and gals.

Best to call a trucker attorney. I've beaten a couple of tickets simply by pleading not guilty and showing up for court when the officer didn't.

Front drive axle looks wonky too.. your boss should invest in maintenance better or at least wash all the leaks . Dot would have a ticket writing party. I agree that you weren’t going fast you would have slid further.

But, all fines will be refunded should you be victorious.
The question is: do you feel lucky?
In my opinion, it's a ticket given out of desperation, and isn't worth the officers' time spent in court.Another Canadian driver, JoeyJunk, Bean Jr. and 1 other person Thank this. -

In my opinion the steer tires are heading in the wrong direction for the truck to lay over on its left side which could indicate a mechanical failure.
Usually when a truck goes over on the left the steer tires are aimed to the right and then go straight upon impact.
Also in my opinion if the steers ended up in that direction from the impact and you had a hold of the wheel you should probably have at least a some broken fingers and possibly a broken wrist.gentleroger, D.Tibbitt, Another Canadian driver and 4 others Thank this. -
Definitely fight it in court .
Show up and if the cop shows up , look around and tell the judge your lawyer is not there and ask for a continuance or reset date .
or just get a lawyer
The $178 for the ticket is just the beginning. your regular car insurance will go up , and it will definitely impact your being hired by other companies .
the cop didn’t see the accident. So they can’t testify in court about what happened
, it’s not like when they clock you on radar or see you run a stop sign .
get a lawyer . Or at least call the prosecutor or the judge and see if they will lower it to something with no points and not a
