The club circuit gets old REAL fast. If your touring big sheds everybodies pretty professional or they get bounced pretty quick. The IA crews are hit and miss. Most are pro and know their stuff. Some are idiots, and just there to cite union rules at the top of their lungs and hang out looking like roadies.
I was out with a theater group DRUM! a bunch of years ago, I was the TD and mixed FOH. We did a small theater on the east coast, mid florida, I cant remember the name. The crew was a bunch of guys that came from the mission down the street.
We struck in 2 hrs, closed the doors on a 53' trailer.
Next night, A big theater in Jacksonville. Full on IA crew. 2 hrs into the out, they called dark and went on a break. They were all bragging about how great they were. They had a loading dock and couldn't get us out in 2 hrs. Forman wasnt impressed when I told him the guys from the mission loaded out into an alley, up the ramp, closed the doors in 2 hrs. Posers all of em.

Running this out of Knightdale NC to Gallatin TN. I prefer to not leave on Sunday morning, BUT when it means I don’t have curfews in Raleigh & Knoxville and all the scales are closed I can live with it.

We have a place just like this in the next town over. Pays is even pretty good. I don’t haul for them. Every load looks just like that. To be on there property you have to have ALL the safety gear on, the largest steel manufacturer in the world owns them but they could not care less about how to properly secure something.
I’ve hauled lots of them when I worked for someone else but I’m very selective if I haul one. I’ve learned lots of tricks to get it secured in spite of them.

TX to NM. It's a jet engine! First time tarping like this, and it's riding great. Only thing under there is a square crate.

Did they tangle you up in an exclusive use? That would have been a beauty to start piling LTL on.

No. He said I had to show up empty, but they didn't care if I added after that. And I did look for some partials, but couldn't find anything. In the end, I hauled 1,600 lbs for $3.48/mi.

Truck got a break, but it's about to get a workout.
