I have Orientation in the AM with Western Express, leaving for the hotel in a couple of hours (Fontana, CA). Wish me luck. Any last minute advice?

    Last minute advice? Sure....

Do you ab-so-lute best....no matter what they throw at you....to stick it out with them.....for AT LEAST A YEAR.

Longer is of course, better still.

Western Express is truly a "second chance" carrier (it was created/designed for that), and....as such....you will likely meet some (let's just say) "interesting" people there.

A coworker of mine used to work there--& he filled me in on what it's like.

When you finally start driving--don't hit ANY-THING.

If (while backing up) you can't see, or you're just not quite sure--set the brakes, & then GET OUT AND LOOK ("GOAL").

When backing up in poorly lit, or dark places, I use LED flashlights (magnetic, & attached to the trailer) to illuminate my "target" area.

This sort of solution will save you from accidents/incidents...and the related, later problems/regrets.

And yes, stay away from alcoholic beverages during orientation.

Very good advice. I will get the mag light as soon as I am able. No worries on the alcohol, that isnt going to happen.
