Hey guys new to car hauling looking to buy a Cottrell 7 car trailer but found out that I have to custom modify my 5th wheel so it can be on top of my rear axle. I got a 15 Kenworth t680 and even if I slide my 5th wheel the way back it’s still not enough anybody familiar with this?

Very short nose on those trailers. It's a common issue.

You need to take it to a welding shop or frame shop and get them to extend your slide further back to where you need it. Also if you take your mudflaps off it will give you a little extra clearance.

Its no custom work needed. You have to move the entire 5th wheel assembly backwards. If you have a sliding 5th wheel slide it all the way back. Cut the huck bolts and slide the entire assembly backwards until the 5th wheel is directly over the rear axle. Any shop familiar with car haulers can do that in 2/3 hours. You have to buy new bolts and if you still want to slide the 5th wheel a new hose for the slide release

You might get away with just reversing your slider plate if there’s a long enough rack on it.
