I am looking for recommendations on what size/type TV to purchase and then what do I need to hook it up? Do I buy any smart TV from Walmart? Also, i am looking to get my first ever gaming console but have NO idea where to start. Ultimately I would like to buy 2 consoles so I can play against my ten year old at home while I'm on the road and also be able to watch youtube or Netflix.

    I am leaning towards xbox.

My phone has unlimited data from Verizon if i need it.

    What do you suggest?

I have a Vizio 24" smart TV, most flat screens are smart tv's these days, also depends on how much room you have in your truck too. For console I have a PS4 Pro with 1TB drive. I paid 390$ for it at the time I bought it used, the regular PS4 is a little cheaper, they do come in 500GB and 1TB, get the 1TB because you will run out of space fast with 500 GB. The difference between the Pro and regular is better graphics at 4k resolution if you get a tv that is 4k capable and better/faster performance with the Pro. If you can find one or two and can afford it Id get the PS5 though being it is backwards compatible with ps4 games. You can download Netflix and pretty much all streaming apps through the PS Store. I use my phone for hotspot and it works fine majority of the time. I also have a 1500 watt inverter installed by my company with outlets to plug into and I usually leave my truck running when I have both tv and ps running. Which console to buy is really a personal preference, Ive played them all and prefer PS myself. Biggest difference between consoles is some games are exclusive to that console. Hope this helps a little.

With a $30 Amazon Fire Stick you can make ANY TV with an available HDMI port a smart TV. I cut the cord and use Amazon Fire Stick 4k for everything. It has a gaming app called Luna which has tons of simpler games, which I am sure is highly inferior to any gaming console, but all it requires is an Amazon Prime account and connection to the internet. The types of games on the consoles will consume LOTS of data, which isn't a problem with an unlimited Vzw account, but it may be when you are trying to game at a truck stop with 150 other internet users.

Amazon Fire Stick 4k are on sale almost always. I think yesterday it was on sale for $19. You normally never have to wait for than a day or two before it's available for $30. Regular price is $50. With I I can watch "cable tv" at USTVGO.TV, watch YouTube, Netflix, Hulu, plus all streaming radio, podcasts and music with or without Spotify. The Fire Stick is locked down a little more than the alternative Roku, which I used for years, but the Roku is SLIGHTLY less user-friendly.

I know nothing else about console video games, which was the focus of your question. There are a few gamer veterans on the forum with all the details on them.

This helps a lot. I looked up the Vizio 24" smart TV at Walmart and right now it is $98.00. Thats all i think i will need. I have an Amazon Prime account at home and a few subscriptions to Hulu, Peacock, and I watch a lot of youtube. I guess I can just sign in to them on the road. As for the gaming console, i have no idea. Son says xbox so I guess to decide I have to see what games are available that we might like to play and go from there. I think I would like to play some things like Rainbow 6 by myself and find some more appropriate stuff for me and him to play...

Luna sounds more my speed lol. Thanks for the info on the Fire stick. that may be an option for me as I dont need a lot to make me happy. I may end up with an xbox but I am not 100% certain. Thanks for letting me know that there is an alternantive.

I had a 32" in the T680 I drove. Used a laptop for gaming. Kodi for streaming movies and TV shows for free.

I plan on going with a 43" with my gaming PC I just built. When I go back out. It won't fit in the normal spot. But will fit in the bunk with some customizing.

I don't know if the Games on Luna are multiplayer or not. I havent played video games since PacMan and Asteroids were new in commercial consoles.

Those are the ones I started on.

Now, you have games that could double as movies.
