Drivers, especially owner operators, stop taking loads and under paid prices. Fuel is $6 a gallon and these brokers are paying $3. If we stand on our prices they will increase the pay. You have to stop taking desperate loads at under pay smfh.

I run anything over 2 bucks. Just trying to survive here dude
48Packard, Rideandrepair and Another Canadian driver Thank this. -
$3 per mile. Truck gets 5 mpg let's say.
$15 - $6 diesel.
$9 profit per gallon.
$2 per mile knocks it down to $4 profit per gallon.
How much money y'all need for the rest of your expenses?
JKGod prefers Diesels, Rideandrepair and Another Canadian driver Thank this. -
Also, you are preaching to the choir. I assume you would like to see a “truckers strike” as well?

$3 pm. Who’s paying the big bucks? I’ll take it, meanwhile I suggest others not to move for less than $4 or $5 pm. You’re services are worth more than mine.

Truth be told it depends on a whole lot of factors. A person or business with very little expenses can weather tough times better than a person or business who has a lot of expenses. They definitely want to work less and produce more for higher profits.
It is not always the brokers neither. I was listening to a shipper tell the broker he wanted to pay 1k for a 350 mile trip( hope it didn't happen) that's before the brokers cut. probably did. I can recall when JB hunt came in a underbid a contract got rrecruited with sign on bonus & there goes that company and paid drivers a lower rate at that time.
Most people are not thinking about the other person. If you’re at 6 pm and I run into your shipper when the contract is up & say I can do it for 3.50 pm goodbye 6pm hello 3.50pm. I saw it happen plenty of times.
As the saying goes "nothing personal just business". Keep your expenses low and weather the storms. If someone can get it cheaper they will unless it truly is personal and not just about business (very few nowadays)Rideandrepair, Dadetrucking305, JoeyJunk and 1 other person Thank this. -
Another one for $4,000. No TWIC, so the escort was $140.
"Are you okay with that?"
"Sure, as long as we roll it into the rate."
"I can't. I'm all in."
"Well that won't work, because I was going to offer $4,500 before I even knew about the escort."
I was getting ready to hang it up for the day when a light chain and go popped up at a good price.kranky1, Rideandrepair, Dadetrucking305 and 4 others Thank this.
