I have as much luck getting just one good teammate in a video game as I do getting just one good load.

    Sweet ride! ^^
If a (insert gender neutral person label here) looks hard enough there is still decent loads to be found on the spot board in dry van. I’m running the Midwest doing both short and long runs and averaging just under $3/mile. Sometimes I have to drive at night, sometimes I have to go places I don’t want to go but it’s out there if you want it. I’m even driving on the weekends -

Nice 67 Plymouth. I had a hardtop just like it. That cars worth quite a bit, even missing a door. I wish I could find one like it.

I just checked both pockets. The moneys definitely not here. It’s somewhere out on the horizon. I’ve been home 2 weeks, after running 10 days. Time to go to work, or start going in the hole. SE Mi. Market is dead, worst than most. Lot of dead end jobs available. I see Local Coca Cola Driver wanted $17 hr. Who in their right mind would do that job for less than $23 hr. Should pay $28 or more. Darts advertising $200k per yr. Drive like a Boss!! Universal needs a spotter, $23 an hr. No OT till after 50, which should be illegal.

Joking aside, the dry van rates are getting worse in a hurry. $1.90 on the way? I’ve been able to stay around $2.50 with my Deadheads. I won’t run for $1.90. Adjusted for fuel prices, not even counting inflation, $1.90 pm all miles is worse than 08-09 rates. $2.20 would be closer, with inflation figured in. I’m guessing. Add the cost of equipment, parts and Labor increases due to shortages. It’s even worse. For those reasons, this is truly an impending disaster. Not the end of the world, because there’s always a backlash eventually, rates will rise a bit, before settling into a more stable situation. Fuel is a wild card, but will be covered when rates stabilize. But right now, what we’re seeing is a preview of what everyone else will soon see. A prolonged recession, with no end in sight. We’re paying the price now, feeling the pain. Once the rest of the Country joins in, we will probably be doing better than most. Truck drivers and Nurses always survive a recession. Others aren’t so lucky.
