Unsanitary Trucks issued to new drivers, what can you do?

Not this Cowboy. Hazardous health environment. I'm sure the truck is in top notch mechanical shape too. This only the beginning of what that outfit will pull. Good luck.

 

My first one was kinda dirty. I broke out the cleaners, scrubbed floors, wiped down everything, and kept it clean. Even waxed it, which is odd for a 2001 plastic Freightliner. Washed it myself in the company bay every time I returned to base. Even the engine bay. Mechanics appreciated that.

Got assigned a new truck shortly thereafter. Kept it immaculate.

Hope your employer views you the same.

 

Clean it up and hope it dont break down cuz the replacement truck will no doubt be in the same condition

I’m on line haul so i have always wiped my truck down before using since i assume the day shift driver spent the day horking and wheezing all over the controls and mining boogers all day.

 

All depends! You have several options, but each one could make this job disappear. If this happened to me, I would tell the owner, he has a choice, either have the truck I pick out, detailed and sanitized or "stick this job up your rear"!! If I had signed a contract, then tell the owner, "I will see you in court, you have the ball, do something with it".

It all depends on your personal status. You hungry?? Or can you afford to "WALK"?

 

Break out the cleaning products. You have to make it your own, man.

Must be nice for that many miles. I got into a "new" truck 2021 with only 60K miles and you couldn't even see half the floor past all the sludge and dirt and you open the fridge and contribute to the floor with your vomit. Maintenance dealt with the fridge pretty well but just went over the floor with a quick vacuum job which maybe sucked up 10% of the crud. I've been here about a month now and still finding things to clean. The person who had this truck went on personal leave is a disgusting animal and I hope they never get back in a truck again.

 

Sounds like a dog poop outfit to drive for. If you are out of options employment-wise, it's time to do some cleaning.

I recommend an odor neutralizer be sprayed on fabric at regular intervals as lingering cigarette odors linger a long time. Replacing the mattress is top priority, besides wiping down the steering wheel.
