What a load of b.s.. With emissions crap that engine will die sooner. Forcing all that crap right into intake + restricting exhaust flow thus lowering mpg. No thanks

Yep greased only when they come in for the 75k oil change or whatever. Usually once a week both trucks get a few pumps. Cheap insurance. Almost 1.2m and besides a new steering box everything up front is still original and tight

Friend of mine has a 2006 Volvo 780 Cummins ISX 13 speed.
Just passed 2 million miles without a major overhaul, removing the head or touching the bearings.

Several EGR valves, couple of turbos, radiators, usual accessories. 3 clutches, 1 transmission. I power divider.

Bought it new, has run synthetic oil since new with bypass oil filter.

Called Cummins as asked if they wanted to promote it, or at least give him a sticker for the side
They didn't even return the call.

That's freaking awesome! I'm about on the same trajectory though you've beat me on miles. Hope I have the same luck. Don't blame you for calling them that's something to be proud of for sure.

that's why it doesn't burn oil. a new engine worked hard, under load, so the piston rings can all seat evenly and completely, ensures minimal blow by later on because the new rings were seated against the walls under a lot of back pressure and all at once, so all the wear takes the perfect shape of the liner, as opposed to a mostly low rpm flat land light rattling break in, the rings basically just bouncing around not being pressed against with much back pressure, the wear will be half hazard and inconsistent, leaving room for extraneous movement later and more opportunity for blow by. with the 1 box system non combustible ash accumulation being primarily metallic particulate from oil additives, that translates directly to 1-box lifespan as well as engine health. there's only a short window to seat rings and it needs to be done under load, very early and very hard.

That's awesome information thank you. I kinda heard something like that years ago about breaking in a truck but it wasn't explained that well. Appreciate that I'll remember that when I get it overhauled.
