Some trucking companies try to withold a drivers last paycheck(s) for cleaning, damages, missing paperwork etc. It happened to me. Most lawyers don't want to be bothered with small claims, and companies get off Scott free and you pay the taxes on money they keep.
But you should know this. According to the US dept of labor, unless the company can prove absolute negligence, it is illegal for them to withhold your pay. How do you collect? File a complaint and claim with the US Dept of labor to cover all the states you drove miles in. Only file with your local state labor dept if you drive only in one state. Otherwise you'd have to file in all states covered by last paycheck, so save time and file with the US dept of Labor. Don't let them rip you off

That's good advice. Keeping your last check is frowned upon by the Department of Labor no matter the industry.

Stealing money from me would be taken as personal. I I would deal with such an act accordingly. Think, dark alley, baseball bat as an example. Lol
Seriously though, in this day and age, If I owned a company where people literally give their lives to do a job for me, I would think twice before I decided to just steal their last paycheck. Not unless I can afford the private security that a billionaire does.

For all companies facing these issues.
Do you think if you did a more thorough job in vetting new drivers it would eliminate at least some of your misfortunes? Mainly those drivers ruin it for everyone else is your statement. So, even though I take good care of company equipment, watch fuel pricing, and such I should give you my money to hold for whatever expenses YOU deem should be covered by escrow? Pound sand!
Drivers: Never ever pay an escrow to be a company employee. Thousands of companies do not require escrow.

Wait. What happened to Julie Deee original post? Did I post the quote in the wrong thread or has she mysteriously disappeared?
