Might ask the dealer. While they have the injector out, to just use a rubber tipped blowgun and see if the cylinder holds pressure. Wouldn't take 5 minutes. While it's not a compression test, it would locate an obvious issue.

Dirty rotten SOB’s. They probably value their time in hours, instead of days. Expecting to be compensated for their time, labored or not. You should have just took the Truck, with an understanding you’re first in line, tomorrow morning if there’s a problem. The jobs done. Had it involved a needed test drive, they would have done it, and charged you 15 more minutes Labor. If it’s finally fixed, be grateful. Could have easily turned into a financial disaster. What all did they do? Any details yet? I’m guessing the Chicago invoice for 6 injectors, harness, Labor was at least $3000, maybe closer to $4000. How much for what, this time. New reman injector swapped for free? Only extra I see, is paying labor again. Most Shops include 1 yr. labor, with a 1 yr. parts. Freightliner and Detroit Dealers anyway. Maybe paid an extra $400 labor. Depending on Chicago Shops charged. Let’s guess one more time for fun. $ 5000 total. You don’t have to answer, up to you. Though $5000 is a lot of money. You still could have done much worse.

Yes sir. Swapped 1 injector. Will only charge labor. But ya i told him can i test drive it before i pay. He goes no you must pay and if u come back even 5 min later ur back at end of line. So im like ok then ill wait 4 u losers to test drive it. Something so f******* simple. But ya injectors were 1800 for 6. and change. And labor was 750. at 1st shop. Its just. No one called to tell me its ready. And come on. you cant test drive it because your soooooo busy. Dealers are so dumb. I think imma take your advice and grab it.

Not bad at all for 6 injectors. Hopefully it’s fixed this time.

    Plus Cummins, IH.

I recall IH selling aftmarket China remans for a DT466E, and OEM remans. Both had IH warranty. But about 200 bucks apiece more. The China ones never lasted more than 100k, and you better by 12 to get 6 good ones.

Aftermarket remans are absolutely useless in my mind. Once went through 14 after market performance reman injectors in a N14 before customer paid me to remove them and install Cummins remans. Truck is still running them today 10 years later. But I have had bad one from Cummins too.

At that price I would be inclined to say they aren't Detroit reman, but a rebuilt injector. Kinda surprised only had one bad one. What info you have on the injectors you bought?

DD reman were about $400 each a couple yrs. back. 6 pack was $2000. Buy 5, get one free, Lol. Detroit warranted his, must have been a reman reliabilt. Lot of rebuilders out there. Detroit only has reman unless I’m wrong. I bought 6 on eBay for $900. One was unboxed. I wish I’d have noted the calibration code on it, just in case of an intermittent problem, or if one goes bad, see if that’s the one. Unboxed to me means possibly installed and returned, maybe repaired and resold, I bought one once off eBay in Jackson TN. Guy built them in his garage, only recently had acquired a real shop, and 1 employee. About 7-8 yrs. I think I paid $150, core return waived, returned when in the area again. Lol. He later said keep it, after a couple attempts to drop it off. It was a lifesaver at the time. I was so broke, had no choice but change it myself. Set the height, put rockers, jakes and valve cover. Worked for a good 6 yrs or more. I never did run the overhead. Few yrs later changed another, using what I could find quick. DD reman, $385 back then, again didn’t do the overhead. It was only ran once, at 100k, on an inframe, Mechanic said if it’s done right, you’ll never need to run another. I’ve always heard that about 12.7s . FWatch mpg, power , if either drop, run one overhead. Must have been right. After 1 mil plus, when inframed again, it all looked good. Cam rollers, not even a button missing. I need an overhead now. It’s got 117k on inframe. Overdue. Really want to do my own. I’m a bit nervous honestly. Having never done one. I used to hear set it a little lose. Better power, mpg’s. I’ve read on here about exhaust valves tightening up. Any thoughts, tips or suggestions?
