Those figures sound about right. I never said this would be a cheap solution. But, basically no cheap solution exists. It will be a new concept for people in the West to get accustomed to, but water the future is not going to be anything close to as inexpensive as it has been.
I think that is the solution because it really solves the problem, although not cheaply. There is no shortage in the world. Aboit 75% of earth's surface is covered in water. However, only about 1% of the world's water is fresh (not too salty) and potentially usable. Any way to directly convert this saline water to fresh water is an actual solution. Salt water isn't ever going to be scarce. Build a pipeline to bring Mississippi water to here in the West and what happens when weather patterns change and drought conditions exist there too. A solution that simply redistributed existing freshmwater, I don't really see as an actual solution. Depending on what happens with the climate, such an answer could be equivalent to rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic.

God has the answers. But man's governance refuses to consult God.

And yes, scripturally bitter water was turned to sweet by God's servant. As well as water flowing from rock in the desert.

God doesn't have the limitations of man.

God is not bound by "science".

I think it's grand that God surrounded rebellious man with plentiful salt water. God could have just as easily made it fresh.

Why not ask Yoda or Palpatine to bring the water to California? They were really strong with the force.

How much has the state of California spent on that high speed rail project ?
And how many miles of track have been constructed ?

They could have spent the money on desalination plants , but billions spent on high speed rail to nowhere that will never carry one passenger was more important than water .

Just want to point out that if other states don't agree to send water to the West, you'll have literally hordes of people heading east if a severe water crisis hits.

Get rid of the pools, the grass and golf courses. Quit running Sacramento River bank full and learn to conserve water. They waste so much it’s crazy I have so sympathy for the California fruits and nuts
