As a driver that has only been to a truck wash 4 times in 30 years, I would run that wheel anywhere I went.

Many years ago I was driving a truck with Budd wheels. These were simply painted white and I did my best to keep them clean. During hometime, the company decided to replace all 8 drive tires. When I got back to the terminal I saw that mess and I did get angry. Every single exposed wheel had been inside. if I said I got mad enough to quit I would be making a serious understatement. I told the shop boss the shape my tractor was in was UNSAT and got back in my POV and left. Not long afterward my fleet manager called wanting to know where I was. I told him I was waiting to hear about a job. I am leaving a lot out, but suffice it to say that the shop boss got in trouble and the company spent a while cleaning and repainting those wheels.

Even though it has been almost 10 years since I retired, I will still say we drivers. We drivers put up with enough disrespect as it is. This kind of crap is not something I will put up with. I made that clear to my company and they fixed it!

Spray it down with oven cleaner let it sit for a few minutes then take a garden hose to it.

I was thinking about that story and remembered something that happened several months later. The company gave me an almost new truck that had Budd wheels that were chromed. Almost every time I was parked waiting to load or unload I was taking a rag and polishing those wheels.

    Boondock Thanks this.

They'll do this all the time where I work, more so with the trailers than trucks. I had my trailer wheels looking pretty good and I needed a tire replaced cause a belt broke inside. They replaced the tire and wheel with a tire and wheel from an old dry bulk cement trailer. You couldn't even see the aluminum there was so much crud on it. They did put a better looking one on after they saw smoke come out of my ears

    Boondock Thanks this.
