Right, and of people go that route I wonder how soon you’re relegated to regular employee status, limited time off, limited vacation time, etc. That would be my concern. You think you’re beating the system in CA but find out now you get two weeks off per year and that’s it. Lol

Based on this. Couldn't you set up your LLC as a "Temp agency."

Landstarve isn't concerned. We are continuing on.

Either way, I've been to THE COMMUNIST STATE once in the last six weeks.

It's about to run out of water. Just need a few stray fireworks now.

Oh absolutely. Dad and family trucked that way for years. Just depended on company. Most would write you up for not being avalible. And sometimes you took sheet jobs for the name of peace.

Sometimes you broke down. Sometimes your truck wouldn't start. Sometimes you run out of hours! It's all a game, anyway you choose.

I'm independent and there are games that go with that.

Dad kept very detailed records and could show you or anyone revenue was better in the 70-80's on the 2 checks. But ######### was high to.

I wouldn't say they're without risk, but unlikely targets. I also see AB5 as an attack on the employers paying drivers on 1099 to avoid the employer tax withholding contribution and workers comp.

I'm guessing it won't be long before an over zealous regulator goes after a few cases to "make them an example" and the ambiguity gets cleared up in a California court room.

Meanwhile deep pocket outfits will simply hire their contractors, or leave. Mostly the former, I'm thinking. California has always been a bit polarizing for those of us outside the state. Some swear by it and willingly navigate the flaming hoops to do business there. Others like me just don't go there. No dog in this fight, but keeping an eye on places like NY and IL where I do operate, where a political regime exists that could easily follow suit, or worse.

Lots of CA o/o are going to be "moving" the business out of state. I really need to get invested in Mailboxes etc. Before the stock surges from AB5.
