Is oil leaking out of outside trailer hub something a driver can get written up for during a roadside inspection? This is a yes or no type question. Feel free to expound on YOUR personal experience after replying "yes" or "no". Thank You

I had a similar issuse. Easy fix for the shop. Watch them and you can do it it next time.
I don't know if you can get wrote up for it. But I do know you don't wanna let it all drain out. -
The experience trucker will say nay. But we are in the year 2022. I cant help you

This is solely based on my experience.
That particular example might be a problem. I’ve hauled a lot of old trailers over the years, and many of them exhibit this “seepage”. The actual gasket seems to be the issue.
It’s a simple fix. If you can, check the tightness of the nuts. If they’re ok, get the repair done.Keepforgettingmypassword Thanks this. -
This is not a yes no answer. Most of the time no. But its not unusual for dot to nail you for piddly crap nowadays.
Honestly just get it fixed. Hub ends are $150 each installed or at least they are on my trailer and avoid the issue.Keepforgettingmypassword and 48Packard Thank this. -

I would pick up a new plug and clean up the hub. Most Ta/petro will have a plug. Take that plug in with you.

The right cop will write it up as a leak. My son was stopped by a Lexington KY city dot a couple of years ago and wrote up for 3 just like that.

Theres a pin hole in the plug . its a breather hole, when it gets plugged up they like to seep like that. Run a paper clip thru it to allow air flow.
