The end times are upon us.

PA truckstops are still full.

 

Freight is very elastic. At any given moment, there is a percentage of the total freight volume that is stuff people can do without.
That is what you are seeing.
They are spending it on gasoline for the vacation, instead of a plastic pool for the kiddies in the backyard.
Or not buying that new gas grille they were thinking of, or delaying any major renovation of the kitchen or bathroom.

There are a hundred ways consumers can shift their spending, which in turn make major changes in the logistics and trucking.
Biggest loser in all of these shifts is China. Used to be US manufacturers would take the brunt, and in turn lay off workers. No more.

 

DOOM

 

No all the darn trucks are here in the north east. Used to be after 5pm when the truck stops starting packing up now by 1pm the only spots left are the tight blindsides . I can’t wait for winter when the scaredy cats go back south.
