upload_2022-7-10_16-17-44.jpeg First off, anyone is welcome to get in on this fun, cuz let’s face it, diets are fun.

I need to lose weight, and ofcourse, there’s always an excuse to start tomorrow. I’m very proficient at starting tomorrow. So, I figured my next brilliant idea to motivate myself would be to put myself on blast in a public forum! While I’ll for sure soon regret this decision, I’m pumped about it now! So let’s go!

Fat History: I’ve always been an eater, but sports kept me fairly at bay in my youth. By my mid 20’s I was 250ish. At 40 I peeked at 340ish. Did a little something about it and hovered around 280-300 for a few years. In February of 2019 I weighed 305, did the keto thing while driving and got down to 225 by December. Was super excited and decided to celebrate. Been celebrating ever since. I like doughnuts. I turn 50 this year.

So I took a pic of myself a couple weeks ago at 253.5 lbs (been using the same digital scale for 15 years), with the idea of doing this thread and keeping me in check while I started a week long road trip with my kids visiting family throughout Texas. I decided against it because I knew there would be crazy amount of food temptations involved. There was.

When I got back, I weighed 260. Gained 7 lbs of goodness. No bueno. But this is gonna be my starting pic @ 253.3lbs. I always weigh myself as soon as I wake up.

So, I plan on updating this thread, keeping like a journal. Even if I eat an entire cake by myself, I’ll put my struggles in here…maybe.

Again anyone is welcome to join and use this page to keep themselves in check and/or inspired. Or just watch me go through my struggles.

I gotta stop procrastinating with my health. So here goes….

I haven’t weighed myself since I got back July 3rd and weighed at 260 the next morning. But, the next day I day I decided to start back on the keto game. I’ll weigh myself in a week or two, but try not to do it every day.

The plan is the same as it was in 2019 for the most part. I start my day with Bulletproof coffee to get those good fats. I would make about 4 cups and put it in a Yeti cup and sip on it for 4-5 hours. I dip tobacco (I’ll attack that vice at a later date) so I would have a dip, drink about a quarter of my coffee, an hour or so later, repeat.

Sometime after noon, I would have lunch. My main go to in order to eat good food was an avocado and canned tuna or salmon. Put some salsa on it and mix it up. Might eat it with pork rinds. Kept nuts, jerky, and would get hard boiled eggs at the truck stops. I was Company at the time and did resets at home, so I was only gone 5-7 days. I had no fridge, so I had to get food that didn’t need refrigerated for the most part.

I bought a Pit Boss pellet smoker so I could meal prep some barbecue.

Oh yeah, that’s another thing I would do on the road. If I found a good barbecue place, I would buy about $100 worth of bbq and keep leftovers in one of those plug in coolers (I do have a fridge and microwave now) and then heat it up in a plug in heat box.

Anyways, back to smoked meal prep.

Im a hunter, so I have a vacuum sealer, and I like to cook a lot at once and freeze meal size portions for the ready. Brisket and a pork butt on the pit boss.

Didn’t exercise a lick when I lost that weight in 2019, but I do know I got more active and started parking in the back lot at Joplin 44 and just generally stopped being so lazy.

Intake is the most important step. Will focus on activity somewhere along the way.

All the diets provide just temporary effect. I am a strong believer in intermittent fasting. You can eat normal food without stress, just gotta eliminate alcohol and sweets

I agree. But when you have 50+ lbs to lose, it helps to quickly get to a place where you can then start making sound choices.

I don’t drink, and I truly look at sugar as nearly any other drug. It’s as addictive as heroin or cocaine, and we are proving that by abusing it, we can kill ourselves pretty quickly with it.

I crave it as much as a drug, and I never realized how “hung over” the carbs made me feel until I eliminated them, and then ate a bowl of ice cream or something.

Wake up the next morning sore and with a headache. Just put it in perspective, for me anyways.
