If you go to a loading rack and even if you probe out your in big trouble. I think today it will be hard to find a load rack that doesn’t use a Skully system.

Do you mean the camlock fitting that the rack's vapor recovery hose attaches to?

The Scully system shuts off the fuel loading at the rack before it can get to the vapor vent system, if it's working properly.
Fuel should never come out the vapor! You may get some condensation, but not fuel.

I don’t understand your question. A valve on a vent line that prevents diesel from coming out just doesn’t make any sense to me.

The Scully is an overfill protection device.

Where exactly would you place the valve you’re asking about?

My understanding was the scully system was attached to an automatic vent that closed.

But after getting a few more posts on this thread the scully system just shuts the flow going into the trailer which makes much more sense.

‘Scully’ is the brand name of an overfill prevention system.
To best of my knowledge, no loading terminals that I have been to, are even equipped to do ‘top loading’ anymore.
Your trailer(or tank wagon) will need to be tested, commonly called the ‘V I K certification’. Without a properly operational overfill protection system, and a ‘vessel’ that passes the V I K certification, you won’t be able load anywhere around here.

The Scully is not a valve, it is a sensor which detects when fuel reaches a pre-set level inside the compartment and shuts down the loading to prevent overfill.
