This is a terrible response. If it were simply dealing with the inconveniences, fine. Unsafe equipment? Nah. Find a different company. Better to be labeled a job hopper and a living one than a loyal driver but a dead one.

That was a cookie cutter response some people give when they think a newbie is just complaining. The most concerning part for me was reading that the paperwork for the truck was expired. All of the paperwork eventually expires, but where is the current paperwork? That's putting your CDL on the line by driving without the current paperwork. I would refuse to move the truck without it. Write up every single issue you see with the truck and refuse to drive it until the truck is repaired. If there there is any blow back in those things, quit and worry about being a job hopper at a later date. That's a horrible situation that could end up proving far worse than the negative of being with your first company a short period.

I agree with lots of the answers but when it comes to safety, you are responsible for your truck and trailer. Keep that in mind…

If the truck is DOT legal then you drive it. They won’t give you a decent truck until you don’t crash the first one. A fleet owner has a variety of trucks and he/she wants them all delivering loads.

I think that goes without saying. What was described here wasn't that, so why are you saying something like it was?

    jmarc77 Thanks this.

Other than the paperwork I’m not too sure. ABS often comes on before it resets at highway speed. I’m not sure there are ANY regs on the seat. If the bolt didn’t pop the tire it doesn’t matter. Steer tread depth is 4/32 so legal. Traction light just means he doesn’t know how to drive. Regen could be due to the shop idling it. Not saying this is the case but he’s not exactly describing an illegal truck, just expired permits. I’m just saying a lot of new drivers think they’ll get a ‘22 freightliner virgin truck and this almost never happens. Get the problems fixed with the shop and keep on truckin’

Other than the paperwork? That's hilarious. If the paperwork isn't legal, none of it is legal.

Who said I didn't drive the truck? Once I got the paperwork straight, I drove the truck. I made my runs. I didn't have any accidents, and I got my loads done on time.

Steer tires are supposed to be matched within a few 32nds. Truck pulled to the right like a mother$%^&er because of the steers. ABS and traction lights don't mean anything but it was a good indicator of the condition of the rest of the vehicle. The seat, regardless of it were a violation or not, was broken and would you want to drive in a truck with a seat like that?

Additionally, do you really want to drive for a company that runs things to the minimum? If they gave you a truck with 2/32 on the drives and 1/4" on the brake linings, would you want to drive it? It's legal. But is it acceptable for a company with over 1000 trucks to be running trucks in that condition?
