Is Watsontown Trucking Good?

Fun fact: Last year, the average advertised pay for an OTR or Regional driver was $75,000, yet the US BLS reported the average salary at $48,200. Bunch of liars out there making it hard for the good companies to find folks who are jaded and mistrusting... and for good reasons.

I found it laughable last night when I ran across a post elsewhere, a guy was trying to find a driver for his "75 mph truck" claiming you would get 5,000 miles per week. Unfortunately for him, it would take an average of 76 mph for a full week's worth of hours available to manage 5,000 miles, so unless this was a dedicated D/H run from Wyoming to South Dakota and back in an unlimited truck, the math says it is an impossible claim... but I bet somebody falls for it and get 2700 miles/week instead. He'll quit, and the guy will be back on social media trying to find another sucker.

The point that you are failing to understand is that my paychecks are bigger than they would be with an hourly job.

Wait, I don't have to justify anything with you. Go pound sand. I want to drive OTR. I enjoy it. Some of us do.

 

Yet you STILL refuse to tell me what you make with your big money CPM driving job. Why hide it if it's so great? Why not tell everyone what a great company it is that you drive for?

You're too funny. Let's recap what happened here. I replied to the OP to help answer his question. Then you replied directly to me for some reason to tell me your CPM job paid better than hourly. Then I asked how much you were making and you began to attack me with insults about my "reading comprehension". Now I'M THE ONE with the "sophomoric mentality"?

Ok, bud. As I mentioned earlier, hourly pays better and a driver can be home in his own bed every night. I'm going to place you on ignore now so you can move on with your life. For future reference, if you don't want to deal with people talking to you then I suggest you NOT QUOTE them or approach them in dialog. Have a good day.

 

I’m just going to interject 2 points.

1) Every last one of these companies are all the same, except for one obvious point, the color schemes on the trucks.

2) If in fact it’s an hourly job, with all the nanny cam hand holding BS, that shouldn’t be a concern, everyday, drive in the right lane, 10 under whatever the posted limit is. Go down the road singing and waving at everyone.

Point being, you’ve done most of your due diligence, came here and asked pertinent questions, now give it a shot, worst case scenario, it doesn’t work out so you’ll get another job.

 

I don't think that's the worst case scenario. I can think of many more worse scenarios than that, when it comes to potentially picking the wrong company. You say that they are all the same, but those are just words. It doesn't change the reality that every company is different because they are run by different people, for different purposes, in different locations. Finding the right fit versus finding a disaster can be everything.

 

You have that 100% wrong. Every trucking company, as with every company whatever business they are in, has one goal. MAKING A PROFIT! A good read for you is a book published some years ago. "The Tyranny of The Bottom Line" In my years in the workforce, I wanted to enjoy and be happy making the "bottom line" show a profit for myself. No matter what the profit might be, my happiness usually made up my mind if I stayed with the company or not.
