Get used to it, it's the new normal. On a recent trip, I was appalled at the travel conditions and vowed never to do it again. Being retired, I'm in the position to say that. I DO feel sorry for commercial drivers though. You drivers today are still the best. I've long said, a fortune awaits the company that invents self cleaning facilities. Staffing was without question, the biggest problem, with old ladies that "hunt and peck" the registers, while the line grows. It's as if we've gotten ultra modern, and it's useless because in some way, it still involves a human being to do the crap work, and people have just had enough. I don't blame people one bit.
In the meantime, on that trip( Colorado to Portland turn around) I can say, without reservation, and I have no affiliation whatsoever, Loves was by far the cleanest, well staffed, friendliest of all. I even told the cashiers that, BY NAME!. Hey, a little compliment goes a long ways. Fact is, I tried to stop at one when I could. It clearly shows, Loves must be a good company. I particularly liked the "restroom cleanliness monitor", even though it probably goes nowhere, it shows they care, and can't build them fast enough. A new Loves TC is being built in Poncha Springs, Co( next town over) on Hy. 50 and 285, even among opposition, it's sorely needed. We, as a country, really needs to update it's travel situation, and sadly, it can't rely on humans anymore.

New Braunfels was doing their showers about 6 weeks ago. I got one of the new ones that had already been finished, it was pretty nice.

That bathroom monitor button must go somewhere. At more than one Love's I've seen the poor schmuck that has to clean the urnals and toilets go over and hit the green button a dozen or so times after he was done with cleaning and washed his hands...kinda stuffing the voting box...but I didn't say anything because I wouldn't want to be the one who has to clean up after some of today's -professional- drivers...I figured, they deserve a break

It's one reason I made sure I said "thank you" to anyone doing that job, like I say, BY NAME. "Thanks ,Ben" or "looks good, Justin"( or whatever), many times, they'd rather not do it either, and a compliment goes a long ways. 1 place I stopped, more of just a gas station than a TC, had only ONE disgusting bathroom for all. I felt sorry for women that had to sit on that thing, and of course, a big line.
So, non-trucking travelers here, like me, think, got to be a better way besides flying. Then I thought, why not the train?:biggrin_25513:
I looked up Denver to Portland, it was about $250, but it takes a whopping 64 HOURS, um, no thanks, I'm just going to fly and be done with it. You can't win with traveling these days.

    JoeyJunk and Dennixx Thank this.
