What's the most common living arrangement for regional drivers who don't own a house?
In my neck of the woods a studio in a decent area is about $900-$1k. Seems that would be a waste of money for two days a week.
Keep Apartment if Regional "Home" Weekends?

Use a family for an official address, and get a hotel or rent a room.
TequilaSunrise, Another Canadian driver and JoeyJunk Thank this. -
It depends on what being home means to YOU. If home is a sanctuary from the world, rent a place. If home is just a place that has a bed bathroom and a TV then rent a hotel when you are off.

Does your next of the woods have a decent RV park?
Perhaps motel it for a few months while saving those monthly grands for an rv.

No, No, No, Yes = Cheap motel room and save tons of money. Better yet, couch surf if possible.Another Canadian driver Thanks this. -
Depends on the location .
A lot of motels are $90-120 a night
an apartment is Probabaly cheaper if your home on the weekends
I was in a trailer park , better than apartment complexes usually, but I dumped it , i owned the truck so I built a shower and camping toilet in the truck and lived in the truck for a while . Sometimes I’d bobtail to a state park campground , way more relaxing than sitting in a truck stop for the weekend .
If I stayed at the company terminal on the weekends I’d usually pick up extra work. Once the dispatchers figured out you were living there , if they had an urgent pickup or delivery or needed a re power nearby , they’d come knock on the door and see if you wanted to go do it .
sold my car too , I was trying to pay off past due bills .
and then bought a small rundown one room cabin two hours away from the truck terminal. I’d go there on the weekends and work on it .BennysPennys, dwells40, Another Canadian driver and 3 others Thank this. -
I think I discussed this in other threads. For the last 10 years or so I was driving I used my sister's address and from time to time stayed at her house. If I was too tired to drive the almost 100 miles to her home OR there was another reason I could not stay, I got into a room in the hotel my company used for orientation. Always got a great rate. I was 100% OTR, I have no idea what I would have done had I been regional.

Get a hotel room. Easiest and usually the cheapest way to go.

Ditch the apartment for now and stack the cash. Tell dispatch you don't need to be "home" weekends for the time being; they'll find a way to keep your wheels turning. There's more money to be made for those driving over the weekends anyway... less traffic, and fewer trucks at the customer's docks means less waiting time.
