Also you can coast you don't have to down shift to a stop. 2nd gear is usually good for turning corners. 3rd or 4th for most curves.

I think the operative word is old. I could float in my '79 mustang (found out when the clutch went out, to get it home) but anything newer I haven't been able to when I tried.

I don't know why anyone would double-clutch a car, but the OP said he's never driven a manual car, just a 10 speed truck. These days they have warnings on buckets not to stand on your head in water in the bucket. You can't be sure what people know and don't know.

Same, no double clutch. Just hold in, gas out. After operating just almost everything, except for an airplane. It’s all easy if you do it as simple as possible and relax.

recently got rid of an old mighty max mini pickup. 5spd. Used to rip it sideways on most turns, nothing beats a snappy old manual

You'll be fine . Have fun.

I've only had manual transmission cars since 1994. 4 of em.
Shift it as one normally would shift a car, 1 clutch 1 shift. Never had a problem w any. Never replaced a clutch or throw out.
Tried to buy one locally 5 years ago but none were available.
I had to fly into Charlotte and Uber to Spartanburg to find my 17 Accord sport.

Was just at a dealer yesterday and asked and they had no manual Honda's on the lot.
Cars are going the same way as rigs.
