I found out this week how sketchy and bait and switch Schneider really is. I would encourage anyone to stay away from Schneider after what I experienced with them this past week:
1) Talking to the recruiters are like talking to a used car salesmen. They will give you a run-around on direct questions, avoid the obvious difficult ones to answer, and try to repackage all the information in ways that is misleading while avoiding the answers you are seeking.
2) One recruiter will offer you a package and state one thing, and then the next one will change everything the first one said.
For instance: Recruiter A offered me a package for a local driving job at $22 an hour while behind the wheel, and then $15 an hour for dock time, with zero time and a half for overtime. Not really sure how they get away with that at all, but classic donkey crap. However, recruiter #1 said "if" you have your hazmat by the time of employment, they will give you $3 more an hour bringing it up to $25 an hour. After the offer was made, and I was willing to move forward to the next stage, and just got my Hazmat, recruiter #2 said that they don't think that is true at all about the $3 an hour for Hazmat for "this" position suddenly, but will look into it, and get back to me. Never got back to me. Both recruiters said there would be a $5,000 hiring bonus spread out over a year.
3) After the offer was made to hire me, and scheduled for school in Chicago, and received the offer letter and training school letter confirming the hire, suddenly I get a phone call from recruiter #2 saying, "Oh by the way, the bonus that was offered suddenly expires literally the day before we scheduled you for training school, so now we are recanting the bonus offer and it's suddenly not available to you." I hung up the phone on them at this point saying, "have a good day." She actually tried to call me back again which I proceeded to explain that their reviews are terrible everywhere, especially when it comes to dealing with money with them, they just proved this point to me, and I want nothing to do with them as I hung up the phone on them again.
That's some super duper bait and switch super sketchy stuff. I have checked all the reviews I can find on different trucking forums, indeed, and other review sites, and the one thing that comes up over and over again is how sketchy they are about money, getting people paid, and ripping them off. They are in the process of changing over from mileage to hourly rates from what the recruiter initially told me, but I don't believe anything those car salesmen say.
This company is clearly taking advantage of people because they need experience driving and that's pretty gross. I would encourage anyone to not have anything to do with them if they are going to use those types of tactics. I am adding this info to this thread so the rest of you know about this nonsense and can point it out to others if they ask if it's worth it to go to Schneider, and if anyone does do a search on this site for info for Schneider, this will come up for others to use critical thinking and avoid folks that practice such things.surf_avenue and LtlAnonymous Thank this. -

I'm not defending them. Lord knows I have NO IDEA how things are there these days. They haven't been able to afford me for 15 years, and I'm on pace to make 2-3x what many of their drivers make this year.
But your experience notwithstanding, I could see how it could make sense for a new driver to go there. At one time, it was a good choice. Maybe they're not as good as they used to be, but it sounds like they're not quite the worst. LolLast edited: Jul 21, 2022
