I just started cruising so can't really say best way to get deals. However usually every cruise line keep offering deals to try and get people in.
Usually cruising during the off season will be cheapest. If you want the most bang for your buck then just get an inside room. I dropped 3k for a balcony while it would of just been 800 for an inside.
Once you start going on cruises you can't stop.

Checked in with customer at 0530. Was told 2 things.
1: there are no mt trls available for preloading... told the clerk there are 2 out there and gave her the numbers. Of course, that was ignored.
2: I am considered to be a workin and they don't load workins on the weekend so was told to come back 1600 tomorrow!
Sent dispatch their reply.
Get the following msg:
"Notified CSRS. Will keep you updated"
This is going to be a long weekend.

Made it home and to no ones surprise i have no load on me. sent a msg to dispatch letting them know I'll be ready and need an empty trailer but got no reply so guess I have an extra day off.
