Is a step deck worth $10,000 more than a flatbed?

I've only run RGN and reefer.

    nikmirbre Thanks this.

The price of trailers is in a downturn went to a sale near me and it looked like the bidders in the center of the group were just bidding up to a point and dropped off, that told me that price was going down and no buyer was going to be stuck with trailers on the lot that wouldn't sell fast like a year ago?

I’d say yeah. I sold my xl 70 w/flip when TMC, Roehl, and all the other guys started to cut the rates back in ‘16 and got a 51’ step with the Lo pro 17.5 tires, a bridge, and can locks. Can load legally up to 10’ tall. It’s nice. If you can get the freight to take advantage of it, yeah go for it. Still doing $3+ per mile and have only had 1 load this year over 30k. Best move I ever did.

32-36" is about right. Double drops can haul taller stuff.

    cke Thanks this.

13’6” is 162” at let’s say a 36” deck height you should be able to load 10’3” on 17.5 I’d say 10’6” legally maybe more, I’m in chili’s eating dinner been a long day lol.

    cke and beastr123 Thank this.

I purchased a stepdeck conestoga not a lo pro on 22.5 and I can get 10ft in there...... I thought a lo pro can get about 10'6 to 10'10 or so in there

I couldn’t see dealing with 17.5s unless you have a dedicated customer you need the height for.

cke, Long FLD, MOBee and 2 others Thank this.
