Today I was trucking along and my #### CEL came on and lil red light in the oil gauge.
Pressure was under 40 and wouldn’t rise normally stays around 50.
Pull over shut it down, I was about half a gallon low.
Noticed I had smoke coming from the filler tube (which I’ve never had) I assumed engine oil temp had gotten hot.
Nevertheless when I start it it takes about 5-10 secs before gauge registers pressure. At idle it maintains roughly 15psi when I take off it does fine goes up past 50 like normal as I shift and then rest around 45. The weird thing is the longer I drive the more it drops closer to 40 and dipped right under 40 on my 20 mile drive to the loves.
I haven’t noticed any drop in power etc.
And I’ve read that apparently Detriot has seals that go out in the oil tubes in the pan which creates a loss in pressure.
It’s a DD16 with 450k on it. Any ideas or advice?

Could be the oil pickup tube seals. This guy seem to have quick video first thing he say the seal on pickup tube go bad at about 500k on DD15

Yep I believe she is ####ed!
Had to add a gallon of coolant this morning,
Oil on dipstick is now overfull (no milky)
And oil pressure is idling at 45-50psi.
Gonna try to get
This get this load off and get it to shop.Another Canadian driver and Siinman Thank this. -
Could be fuel dilution. If you can’t smell it, then take a sheet of white paper and put a few drops on it. Fuel will make sort of a halo around the oil.

@Phoenix Heavy Haul
What year is your dd16?
also if it’s consuming oil, the pickup tube orings won’t be the cause. But it’s still a good idea to change it when opening it up.
do you have my type of gauges ? If yes you can upgrade the cluster to include the turbo and engine oil temp as well. Its an easy bolt on.Another Canadian driver Thanks this.
