That may be your opinion, may be true in your experience. Mine has been nothing at all as you explain. Lots of opinions on running an old Truck. Until you have done it, you don’t know. Everyone trashing old Trucks are using hypotheticals. It simply isn’t true. Same way emission Trucks aren’t always money pits. Facts is, without a warranty, simpler is always better. All Trucks need maintenance and repairs. Pay up for a new one, and be a Slave to the Bank. Or buy an older one, and be a slave to higher maintenance. The argument only hold up for 4-5 yr old Trucks or newer. Once they hit 600k, anything and eventually everything will need maintenance. Sure if you spend 60k rebuilding a $40k Truck, you’ll have a good Truck for a few yrs. Same if you buy a 2 yr old $100k Truck. You’ll have a good reliable Truck for a few yrs. The way to do it, is buy a well maintained older Truck, and continue to maintain it. They’re both going to need plenty. Pick your poison.

Try explaining why you have an 01 exempt Truck. Original engine still intact dated November 1999.

EGR, and EGR cooler. Fun and games until the turbo starts barking under load because the EGR valve is opening when it's not supposed to. Or when the cooler starts leaking, and the engine starts drinking antifreeze.

Also, when did we start worshipping elogs?
