They definitely are built worse than a Cobra CB. The Anytone AT-6666 has the most durable encoder but it does get hot because the heat sink isn't a very good design.
Stryker 955 on a Budget! Anytone 5555N II!

The encoder on the 5555N II feels better than the 6666 and is light years ahead of the 955. Haven't had it skip yet.

rabbiporkchop Thanks this.

The 5555N II encoder has a nice solid click while changing channels. It sounds very similar to the encoders that the "Sand Jawa" is putting in his 955's, at least on his videos. Nothing like the notorious wimpy feeling skippy acting 955 encoder. The 6666 is pretty decent but will skip a bit on occasion. Nothing really bad but it will skip once in a while.
JDNight Stalker10 Thanks this. -
I bought a replacement encoder from Stryker for my 655 but haven't had a chance to swap it out. The project keeps getting shoved down the list. I assume it would fit in a 955 also

My 6666 only rides in air conditioned space. When I leave the vehicle, I take the radio with me. Works like a charm

I bought the 5555 but it's too big to fit in installation hole and my company does not allow modifications to anchor the radio to the dash. Any advice?
