how much r134a in a 359?

    anyone know how much R134a I should use in my '86 359?

    Pretty sure it would be R12. And i think you will need to switch some parts

    If I remember correctly with a bunk on it it should be either 3.5 or 4 lbs ..with small condenser

    62" bunk but someone has soldered the lines to the bunk closed so for AC purposes I guess it's a day cab. Not sure about the condenser size I'll post a pick tomorrow

    yeah....I'm not the original owner of this truck nor am I a AC expert but I know enough to be dangerous. I'm guessing someone has already switched it over. I've been running R134a since I bought it in 2014. Compressor locked up last week.

    I'd figure 3.25lbs ish. You replacing the drier and orifice tube too?

    I replaced the reciever drier. I started to replace the expansion valve but its in a nasty location so I chickened out before I broke the tubes coming out of the firewall. what's an orfice tube?

    Goes into the high side line INTO the evaporator. I would replace while open. If the compessor grenaded, it's likely full of metal.
