Tolls on 80 , 90, 76 , 78 and 95 along with cheap outbound rates are why I pulled the plug on NY, NJ and PA last April, I almost made a career of out of omaha to the northeast and back .
A lot of good memories but it just isn't worth the hassle anymore when I can run Columbus Ohio and back for the same money and not have to deal with Chicago.

I read an article last year that said tolls would continue to increase until 2050 or something like that. It's only a matter of time before US 22 becomes the main route east and west again because I76 is too expensive

2050? WTF? Why don't they just say 'If you drive here the tolls will continue to increase until you die'. Same thing, really, isn't it?

More like 14 billion. And the had 104 million in uncollected tolls from June 2020 to May 2021. Got rid of the toll booth workers and went with technology. Worked well didn’t it lol.

Pretty much. The state of PA has some act that mandates the turnpike commission to pay millions of dollars towards public transportation for the state, or something like that, which is part of the reason they keep raising tolls and get deeper in debt. Doesn't make sense to me, the tpike is their own organization and technically a private roadway separate from the state. Politics play a big role I'm sure.

Compare the PA pike to the Ohio turnpike, it costs like $60 to run the whole Ohio pike and it's actually a very nice road with giant service plazas. Then you cross into PA and can barely fit 30 trucks into the plazas on the EB side, plus have to battle the endless curves
