I saw billboards advertising commercial land for free
along the Interstate. In Kansas, of course.
I spent 3 days near North Platte NE waiting to load at a beef plant.
I got 2 marriage proposals from the locals.
They had too many widows, cows and land.
Not enough men, though. No joke.
I was way younger. But not stupid.

I'd rather buy an 80's van with airbrush artwork and live in that over a tiny house.

 

Probably better off just buying a used 5th wheel travel trailer and parking it on some land. With power hook up and septic tank.

 

Location matters, i dont mind rural, but no way i would subject myself to ga/nc, way too hot/muggy.
Worse than that, my wife has only 2 areas she'll consider, and thats not one of them. Lastly, is the question of if it will meet an inspection, or the seller decides to say "as-is" thats a red flag meaning you cant get a loan on it

Likewise for those that mentioned tiny homes being a fad, large part of the issue is zoning. House on my street is a 1930s house, 492 sq feet, but it wouldnt meet code today, couldnt be built because its not 750+

 

Either that or just an older single wide mobile home .

they are very affordable, some are even free if you will remove them from the sellers property .
