If that's all it is, just chew spit (another filthy habit) in an isolated area, that would be a simple clean up. I'll repeat this statement because it looks like there's a lack of understanding what having to live with someone else's filthy habits.

Tobacco residue is present in dust and on surfaces throughout places where smoking has occurred. This toxic sticky residue can reemit (off-gas) back into the air and recombine to form harmful substances that remain at high levels long after smoking has stopped.

That being said... add pee residue, dried up coffee, boogers on the inside of the windshield, dried up food in the fridge, cab filters with whatever was in them, old body odor, it goes on and on. So for anyone who says, get used to this type of sh$t, you must live in a real paradise.

Try cleaning toxic crap from curtains, hard surfaces, upholstery, windows, seats, steering wheel, and everything else this garbage comes in contact with... but that's ok, because most truck drivers are apparently used to living this way.

I'm guessing that Human Resources at Halvor think's that's who I am, or perhaps I should get used to living in this kind of environment because that's what a trucker is. I don't think I represented myself as a slob, I didn't have dirt under my finger nails, was shaved and showered, didn't talk like I was drunk, had clean clothes on and didn't weat my pants down around me knees.

I'm not sure what the training finishing department saw that gave them the impression that I would be ok with living this way. Maybe they thought, "oh, he'll get used to it after awhile." She said that if I wasn't happy with the detailing job I can just have them redo it. So the same people who "DETAILED" it the beginning, are going to do the same workmanship that they used before?

I walked out to see what the "DETAILER" was doing. When I walked up behind him he was dusting off the driver's floor mat with a rag... that'll their redo job. She said some of the trucks were already "DETAILED". Human Resources blew me off by asking, "how can I make this right?" Apparently asking for a truck that didn't look like some crack head lived in it was asking too much.

"These are the only trucks we have available right now." 600,000 miles on them and the interior in the condition they were in should be ecceptable. I wonder how they live to think this is acceptable. "We treat every like family" Human Resources family must live under a bridge if this is how they treat their employees like family.

That's on Halvor, I'll give you that. Some people are just slobs, and must be dealt with.Halvor should have done a better job in detailing.

    I'm sure
I'm sure that carbon monoxide alone is not the culprit of sticky residue on the walls and smelly upholstery. The carbon monoxide of which some people are more focused on here rather than the actual situation, is a gas form given off when one of those craving cigarettes are lit. The carbon monoxide is then released into the air and into your body along with other chemicals.

Here are a few of the chemicals in tobacco smoke and other places they are found:

    Acetone—found in nail polish remover
Acetic acid—an ingredient in hair dye
    Ammonia—a common household cleaner
    Arsenic—used in rat poison
Benzene—found in rubber cement and gasoline
    Butane—used in lighter fluid
    Cadmium—active component in battery acid
Carbon monoxide—released in car exhaust fumes
    Formaldehyde—embalming fluid
    Hexamine—found in barbecue lighter fluid
    Lead—used in batteries
    Naphthalene—an ingredient in mothballs
Methanol—a main component in rocket fuel
    Nicotine—used as an insecticide
    Tar—material for paving roads
    Toluene—used to manufacture paint

To be honest I’m the same as you. I like everything clean and am a bit ocd. Ive had and detailed a ton of trucks. yes you have to get used to it. No one holds the same standards for cleanliness. Unless the company makes a point to clean and wash trucks daily, weekly, after trips ect… it’s not going to happen.
For one truckers are usually not the cleanliness type and 2 guys spend all their time in them..

No joke I just spent probably 10 hours the past week going through a truck and polishing it and I’m only half done … no one else is going to do it, but I don’t care that’s how I want it..
Who cares as long as they’re paying you for your time.

you could go to 100 companies and it’s going to be the same thing everytime. Starter company or not it doesn’t matter

It matters to me. If you have to sleep on a mattress that hasn't been sanitized, it smells so bad that you end up with a sore throat and can't sleep and by morning you're blowing brown chunks of snot out of your nose.

It would take another 20 hours to complete this truck, I went through it the best I could for the little time I had. I was able to get the smell out of it but there's still sticky surfaces and the buttons on the steering wheel stick because there's so much crap down them.

Having to get used to something like this is not an answer. I'm not talking about the outside of the truck at all, it's just the inside so it's at least breathable. I'm supposed to bring my wife onboard in another month, it should be more clean then this. "It's ok honey, you just got to get used to it."

Just wait till you have to park at nasty truck stops and use the bathrooms and showers. You have no experience. Deal with it and move on.
you’re in for a world of hurt when you figure out the hundreds of other things that will tick you off in trucking
