Also, if you're using these nasty rest stops and bathrooms, you are the one who lacks experience.

Thanks for sharing your experiences Bozwik, glad i was ghosted by these rhubarbs . Unanswered prayers right? Or i'd be married to a sasquatch who Dear John'd me when overseas in the military. In my defense she was "exotic" but grew into a squatch over the years.
Posting some pics of said truck would help with credibility, i'm skeptical of everything. Even other peoples reviews. It's obvious to me your credible and that you have an ax to grind with Halvor and i can certainly respect that. No one likes getting outright lied to however recruiters are just that, grain of salt.
Bozwik i share your need for cleanliness but anytime you start out you can expect bottom of the barrel. Worse, have you seen some of these truckers? I'm 6'1 250# and like a buffet as much as the next man but genetics and a sedentary lifestyle be darned. On the flipside there are plenty of truckers in better shape than i and those who take pride in their rigs/home. It's the human condition i'm afraid. Halvor Lines is moronic to put a new employee in such a disgusting situation as you tell it.
The way i see it O/O is where it's at assuming you have an iota of business acumen. By now i've watched plenty of "youtube truckers" who have some #### nice equipment, older equipment that has been restored/gone through and driving ability that makes my sphincter pucker, and i've done some stuff
Youtubing trucking, one of my new hobbies. Any of you posters here have your own channel? I'd be happy to subscribe & contribute. I saved a marriage recently subbed to Victory Concrete out of Milwaukee. Dude edited his video but missed his wifes phone number displayed on his F150's console when she called. Good thing he only has 200k subs. About the same subscription base as those that take the time to read the partitions in the crappers at a Flying J?Lonesome Thanks this. -
There's a big one coming down on Halvor Lines, big as in industry changing big.
On another thread, someone posted about the TMC lawsuit. Well this one against Halvor is bigger and better.
Details to come..Need4Speed and Chinatown Thank this. -
So, what's the positive on Halvor Lines since this thread was started in 2009?

If any company out there deserves it, it's Halvor Lines. Even Swift pays more I bet. -

One of the issues I have with Halvor is their CDL trainer to trainee programs. The roads are dangerous enough without adding more risk then necessary. From their website:
Halvor Lines driver trainers are selected based on a number of criteria, including:
- Three months OTR experience with Halvor for experienced drivers (6 months or more driving Class A CDL)
- A solid record for safety, productivity and other items on Halvor’s driver performance scorecard
- A desire to share your knowledge and set new drivers up for success
Halvor Lines Inc Crash Reports
It feels like Halvor is still getting their feet wet in the industry. Almost everything they do, from dispatch to safety is amateuristic. On several occasions they send drivers to the wrong address. Dispatchers have dispatchers and load planners haven't a clue of what's going on.
it is by far the worst paying company that I'm aware of. They advertise that OTR drivers go to all 48, from coast to coast. My dispatcher tells me that the only ones that go out west or to the deep south are owner operators. I talk to higher ups and they tell me that that's not true. Apparently they don't think we talk to other drivers only to find out about all the lies they tell.
The company sends out homework every 1/4, as in training modules through CarriersEdge. They tell you that is you don't complete them within a period of time they will take away your miles. Dispatchers send out report cards to your email with job performance that are graded from A's to F's, this is separate from your Driveri scores.
OTR road for me has been I-90, from Wisconsin to an northeast state and back, over and over again. Sometimes it's from MN to Atlanta and back, but that's it. At first I was getting good miles, but as time goes on those miles decrease. They pay zip code miles which means if you're already within a zip code and have another drop, you'll only get drop pay but no extra miles. Some weeks I see 1,500 miles but nothing over 2,500 anymore. One driver took home $500 while his dispatcher couldn't find him any back hauls even though other drivers in the same area were.
the other week I took home $900, haven't seen anything over that in awhile. I am under a one year contract with this company, 4 1/2 more months to go and I have an offer starting at .61 cents per mile, hub miles and coast to coast. Already spoke with a couple drivers from that company and it sounds promising... I can hardly wait.Gearjammin' Penguin, loose_leafs, drh72 and 1 other person Thank this.
