I had that one time on the front shaft of a 60. They only did the head. It had low oil pressure and they wanted to do rods and mains. It ran fine just low oil pressure.

What kind of noise? I am thanking a charge air cooler boot type thing that screams.

Just normal engine noise. Insulation gone from hood doesn’t help.

Is it possible the yoke nut is loose and possibly nut on carrier bearing? Could they have damaged carrier bearing when jacking around with driveshaft?

Bean Jr. and Rideandrepair Thank this.

I unload 1.5 hours away in the morning. Going to swing by my local mechanic and check the obvious before focusing on engine. Taking my creeper with me and will stop at rest area and do some more looking.

Thank you all for current and future help. It is keeping me calm while trying not to go bonkers.

Do not know if you read all this or just jumped in. He has a history with this truck but not this engine. Insulation and such is a good point.
When I worked in a fleet of them, that were different year models, some always had a vibration that disturbed me. On the the road, parked with the clutch released or engaged. Some of them came new like that but no bad noise.

Bean Jr. and Rideandrepair Thank this.

It is mind boggling that the old worn out engine and worn engine mounts just purred along fine. To replace everything where you think you are doing the right thing and have these issues is maddening.

Other than the new vibrations; how does it run?
