Chicago intermodal is a real money maker. Probably the best paying market near WI

Pay varies by state, but so does housing costs, groceries, utilities, fuel, etc. Don't forget to add up your additional expenses in any new location. WI has income tax and maybe some cities tax your income.

Thanks for your response. While Georgia has a fairly low cost-of-living ratio (though not the lowest) in the U.S. However, it rises when you get closer to Atlanta. Not to mention the heavy traffic to deal with, both while driving commercially and commuting in my personal vehicle.

I’m not saying I wouldn’t move/work there, or to another area with higher COL, but the pay would need to be high enough. A lot of the jobs on Indeed have jobs in the $18-19 hourly range, but I’m just as well off at $16.25 hourly where I’m at now. And another thing is the OT. I average around 50-55 hours weekly, even during the rainy days, as my company hauls sand, rock (57 stn., G.A.B., Ali, limerock, etc.) in addition to asphalt/milling. So it’s actually not often we stay out due to rain (some years are worse than others).
If a job that pays more hourly yet doesn’t work as much OT as I do, I probably net more.
