Nice, how you guys doing out there with Hansen? I run O/O with them out in Cali and between the ab5 crap and now the 1.5% cut people are not to happy. I am heading to Georgia in the next month to pickup my new truck from Cottrell and thinking about staying a little while to see how I like it out there.

I can’t specifically speak about much freight down south as I seldom run south of Smyrna. Nissan is paying really well now in several locations. I don’t like taking a 1.5% pay cut, but if it truly is temporary and it keeps the company healthy long term I am fine with it. The one thing I need to see to feel confident long term is that they change the things under their control that got them in this situation. If they continue to get significant rate increases (like every other carrier is getting currently) as the contracts are renewed I will stay here for many more years. I am extremely happy with what I do and what I make, but the company has to be healthy for us all to continue long term. 35 years in trucking and I have heard many rumors over the years that generally aren’t true, therefore I wait until I see something happen before I react. After 7 years Hansen and Adkins is still a great place for me and my rig and I hope it is the last company I work with. I always have a back up plan of some type but I hope I don’t have to use it.

Yeah we are all in the process of having to get our own authority and the quotes for insurance are not looking to great. I sure wish my wife was willing to move. Hansen until covid hit was for sure the best car haul company I have worked with. After covid it seemed like many of the people in higher positions who knew what they were doing left, and it started to feel more like United Road. I sure hope things turn the corner.

The one good thing I have heard about those getting their own authority is that now they are running various overflow making some CRAZY MONEY. Their are many people making a fortune currently even after the additional insurance and back office costs. I have thought about getting my own authority and taking my share of that crazy money. However I am on the last handful of years working and I really don’t want to work as hard the rest of my career. I also really like routines (more than the additional revenue potential of overflow and spot market freight) and will very likely stick to my contracted regular lanes as long as it is ours to haul.

Some drivers are beginning to wonder if this is the beginning of the end for Hansen

I know I worked for them and Allied. Hansen like many other companies who’s revenue dropped during Covid, have experienced difficult times. I doubt we are going away with out a fight. The auto manufacturers can’t afford to loose any carriers right now so they will pay market rates to keep the carriers they have.
