I will definitely try that, I will report back on the results. I think that will be an interesting test along with waiting a little longer (RPM) to shift into 6th. Thanks for the idea.

CONCLUSION:
Just got back from the repair shop, and after explaining the issue they were confident that its a bad synchronizer. The trans grinds in 6 gear only when you start driving (cuz the oil is still cold). Once the oil warms up, the synchronizer works fine. REQUIRES: Transmission replacement ($3500 reman trans + $750 clutch + labor). Next mystery will be how long can a guy drive with a bad synchronizer?Rideandrepair Thanks this. -
Short answer... it depends on what your hauling and how good you are at floating gearsRepoweredRookie and Rideandrepair Thank this. -
Why new transmission? Can't pop the aux section off, replace the synchro and put it back together?

My last Truck did the same thing only when cold. Sometimes it would lurch out. No one seemed to know why. Later found out it was just the synchro. They can change it. Don’t think it’s very expensive either.

I read this response from SmallPackage earlier, and had a little success. I needed to decide if I was going to cancel my upcoming load or not before replacing trans with a reman trans ($3500). So I woke up at 4am today and put the truck on the road with little traffic. I was meticulous about using the high/low selector on the stick way before going into the high gears. AND IT WORKED. The more time I gave the selector switch, the less (if any at all) grinding there was. I have had the truck 2 years, but did few loads this year waiting for diesel to come down in cost. Between too much coffee and my over-confidence in racing through the gears, I almost cost myself $5000. I want to thank everyone for the ideas to try, but especially SmallPackage. This site and you guys willing to help have saved me a heck of a lot of $. Thanks guys!
