I could go back and research but I think the primary reason for those tires failing was as you say those speeds. This is because of the Delta wing. All I can say is good luck with this aircraft!

Unfortunately it won’t have the range required. As it is,transpacific flights are out of the question (unless you stop in Hawai’i or Alaska).

I'd have to look too, but I think they were like 280 kts or something at takeoff. I'm gonna go look.

Just looked. It was 220 kts for the Concorde. In comparison to an A380.......180 kts. Like you say, that delta wing it the kicker.

The Delta wing allows these airframes to go past Mach 1 easily. However, sadly a Delta wing gets really sluggish at lower speeds. This increases the V1 speeds as well as forces the aircraft to land at a higher speed. The crash in Paris that finally ended the Concordes service was caused by FOD on the runway that caused the tire to come apart and slung parts of the tire up on the airframe and also hitting the fuel tank causing it to release a lot of fuel. The Concorde was also plagued by expensive costs to operate. So expensive a ticket was in the thousands of bucks, much more than an average airliner.

I hope the makers of this aircraft have solved some of these problems OR it will become the Concorde part II!

Since this aircraft is supersonic most likely it will have to follow the rules the Concorde had to follow with regard to noise. This means it most likely will be used by American for its service to Europe. My daughter is an American Flight Attendant that works these flights today. I would love to know more about this aircraft with regard to how they overcome the problems the Concorde had. If not I will do my best to get Kari to stay Conus.

"Boom has had some strong indications of confidence in its project. It has secured orders from the likes of Japan Airlines, United Airlines, American Airlines, and the Virgin Group, as well as some from unidentified customers. In all, it says it has orders in for more than 200 of the type."

"Crucial to this four engine design is the need to be able to reach supersonic speeds without requiring afterburners, a feature that made Concorde so very loud and inefficient. The engines are pitched to be small, quiet turbofans, hence the need for four, as opposed to two very large and heavy units. They will be designed to run on 100% sustainable aviation fuel from the outset."
