The Delta wing allows these airframes to go past Mach 1 easily. However, sadly a Delta wing gets really sluggish at lower speeds. This increases the V1 speeds as well as forces the aircraft to land at a higher speed. The crash in Paris that finally ended the Concordes service was caused by FOD on the runway that caused the tire to come apart and slung parts of the tire up on the airframe and also hitting the fuel tank causing it to release a lot of fuel. The Concorde was also plagued by expensive costs to operate. So expensive a ticket was in the thousands of bucks, much more than an average airliner.
I hope the makers of this aircraft have solved some of these problems OR it will become the Concorde part II!Crude Truckin' Thanks this. -
Since this aircraft is supersonic most likely it will have to follow the rules the Concorde had to follow with regard to noise. This means it most likely will be used by American for its service to Europe. My daughter is an American Flight Attendant that works these flights today. I would love to know more about this aircraft with regard to how they overcome the problems the Concorde had. If not I will do my best to get Kari to stay Conus.

Update: Looks like they might have their engine!

"Boom has had some strong indications of confidence in its project. It has secured orders from the likes of Japan Airlines, United Airlines, American Airlines, and the Virgin Group, as well as some from unidentified customers. In all, it says it has orders in for more than 200 of the type."
